Evidence-Based Podcasting: A New Standard for Pharmacy Education Through Audio

Five years ago—on September 29, 2020—I quietly started building something I believed the pharmacy profession needed, even if the industry wasn’t ready for it yet.

I called it Evidence-Based Podcasting™.

At the time, podcasting in healthcare was growing rapidly. Pharmacists, clinicians, and industry leaders were turning to audio for education, insight, and connection. But there was a problem—while the medium was powerful, the structure behind it lacked consistency, rigor, and accountability. Too much content was driven by opinion, not evidence. Too many opportunities to educate were being lost.

That’s when the idea became clear:What if podcasting could meet the same standards we expect from clinical research, continuing education, and peer-reviewed publications?

Evidence-Based Podcasting™ was created to answer that question.

It’s not about replacing traditional education—it’s about enhancing it. It’s about delivering clinically relevant, peer-reviewed, and well-documented audio content that pharmacists and providers can trust. It’s about making learning more accessible while maintaining the integrity of evidence-based practice.

At its core, Evidence-Based Podcasting™ integrates research, clinical expertise, and patient-centered thinking into a format that fits the modern healthcare professional’s life. Whether you’re commuting, working, or simply trying to stay current, the goal is simple: make every minute of listening meaningful.

This isn’t just a concept—it’s a movement toward better communication, stronger education, and more responsible content creation in healthcare media.

Evidence-Based Guidelines for Podcast Production and Use in Competency-Based Health Professions Education

Now, five years later, it’s time to bring this to the Pharmacy Podcast Network community.

I’m opening the door to pharmacists, clinicians, educators, industry partners, and innovators who want to be part of building this new standard. If you believe that content should do more than inform—that it should influence, improve, and elevate patient care—then this is for you.

The future of pharmacy education isn’t just written. It’s spoken.

And now, it’s time to make it officially 'evidence-based'.
